Today's makeup was a 'quickie' i.e. just enough to make myself look reasonable in readiness for an early morning appointment I'd arranged at my local garden centre. Having decided what to wear (a dark khaki green lace-edged cotton jacket with blue jeans and white bamboo t-shirt) I selected two tones of green eyeshadow to co-ordinate with the jacket. Not that I think it's necessarily a good idea to base one's makeup on the clothes you're wearing but at this time in the morning it saved me from having to think! It wasn't my ideal choice because I had to supplement my preferred mineral powders with a Ruby & Millie eyeshadow to achieve the right effect
Base - Ruby & Millie Green ~ - all over lids and up to two-thirds of browbone; also under the lower lashes
Highlight - Lavera #2 - to top one-third of browbone
Contour - Cozmetic Lab River Gum - using my MAC angled brush I applied a thin line along the upper lashline; also from the outer to the centre of the lower lash line and the outer area of the mobile lid
Eye pencil - Lavera Green Kohl #5 - marked upper lashes at the outside only (blending inwards to the centre) and the outside edge of the lower lashes (approx one-third of the way in)
Mascara - Blinc Primer, Lavera Black, Blinc Black - I curled my lashes after applying eyeliner, I then applied one coat of primer, two coats of lavera mascara and a final coat of Blinc waterproof mascara when the previous coats had dried
Eyebrows - Body Shop Charcoal - lightly brushed colour through eyebrows to define - then Blinc primer to keep them in place
Foundation - Cozmetic Lab Natural foundation - applied as a concealer only; like I said I was in a rush!
Concealer - Essential Beauty Bright Eyes - under eyes and to lighten hyperpigmentation
Bronzer - Elemental Beauty Radiance
Blush - Lavera #2 powder rouge
Lipliner - Cozmetic Lab Clay - to outline and partly fill in the lips
Lipgloss - Lavera Brown - to the centre of the lower lip only
Cozmetic Lab's River Gum eyeshadow is quite a dark matte shade, which looks fairly dramatic without shouting too loud. The neutral lips worked well. I like the Lavera lip glosses, they smell of apple and the brown shade has a particularly gorgeous come-alive sparkle to it. In fact they all do (orange, raspberry pink and brown) it's just that the brown is my neutral most wearable favourite. Again, the Lavera blush #2 is the easiest most natural looking choice for bringing some not too obvious colour to cheeks.
I'd rate this daytime look 7/10. The good news is, it lasted all day - to the extent that my friend Lois complimented me on my makeup 12 hours after I'd first applied it, and I hadn't re-touched a thing. I suppose on reflection I could have used Elemental Beauty's Armed Forces - a sort of muted sage green
