Congratulations to Sally and Brendan, who were married on Sunday 24th May at Makeney Hall in Derbyshire. This venue has a beautiful lush garden with bamboo, ponds, wild garlic and other colourful plants and flowers that provided a stunning backdrop for their wedding photography. It’s always wonderful when a couple take into consideration how photogenic a venue is when choosing where to get married. Sally takes an interest in photography and her wedding images were an important factor to their day. When we arrived, she had even moved rooms in the morning to get ready in a bigger, lighter bedroom, which obviously made my job a lot easier – I couldn’t have asked for a better bride!
I did Sally and her mum’s makeup and they both looked radiant. Sally’s eyes are one of her most striking features, and I’m sure you can see exactly what I mean in the black and white portrait on Pretty Flamingo's gallery of images. She chose a bouquet of cream roses studded with diamante, scented with eucalyptus leaves and included thistles to celebrate her Scottish heritage.
Sally has warm skin tones, blue eyes and strawberry blonde hair with red and gold highlights. Warm tone colours suit her best. I subtly defined her eyes in neutral tones including soft ivory and gold highlighters, a light brown midtone and a shimmering brown/bronze contour shadow. Finally, a pearl finish ‘dark-eyed’ bronze eye liner really made those blue eyes ‘pop’! For Carolyn, the mother of the bride, who also has warm skin tones, I chose a pale gold highlighter and sage green eye shadow, softly ‘smoked out’ with bronze eye liner to define and complement her beautiful brown/green eyes.
Sally posed under the pergola with the flora and fauna and looked like a true goddess! After days of rain we enjoyed an incredibly sunny, hot day, which was a real blessing.
