Natural Eye Makeup

Today I practiced a natural eye makeup as follows:

Base - Bobbi Brown Bone - all over lids and up to browbone; also under the eye from lachrymal area to the centre of the eye (latter not applied until after dark brown eyelining procedure)
Highlight - Lavera #2 - to top of browbone only
Midtone - Elemental Beauty Suede - from inside to outside along socket line and up over browbone blending on top of base colour to approximately two-thirds up over browbone
Contour - Lavera #3 Brown - on the outer area of the eyelid only - to intensify this area even more
Eyeline - Screen Face 216 (dark brown) - using my MAC angled brush I applied a thin line along the upper lashline; also from the outer to the  centre of the lower lash line
Eye pencil - Lavera Black - marked upper lashes at the outside only (blending inwards to the centre) and the inside rim of the lower lashes at the outside only (approx one-third of the way in)
Mascara - Blinc Primer, Lavera Black, Blinc Black - I curled my lashes after applying eyeliner, I then applied one coat of primer, two coats of lavera mascara and a final coat of Blinc waterproof mascara when the previous coats had dried
Eyebrows - Body Shop Charcoal - lightly brushed colour through eyebrows to define - then Blinc primer to keep them in place

Foundation - Cozmetic Lab Natural foundation - applied all over face with velour puff then a second layer pressed on after concealer
Concealer - Essential Beauty Bright Eyes - under eyes and to lighten hyperpigmentation
Bronzer - Essential Beauty Radiance
Finishing powder - Essential Beauty Matte
Blush - Lavera #2 powder rouge
Lipliner - Cozmetic Lab Blossom
Lipstick - Lavera #15 - pink
Spritz - Cozmetic Lab

Using dark brown eyeshadow applied with an angled brush as an eyeliner defines the eyes really well and is a lot easier to control than liquid liner. I probably didn't need to use Suede as a midtone as well as the Lavera Brown shadow - the brown shadow on its own would have been enough and the application time less!

My eyelashes look amazing. As close to cow eyes as it's possible to get! In fact my daughter wanted to know if I was wearing fake lashes! I think that this is partly due to consistently wearing Blinc eyelash primer both day and night, which has definitely made my lashes and brows grow longer and thicker over the past three months. Highly recommended! Certainly your lashes look a lot more natural with Lavera mascara on top of the primer AND it allows you to build the lashes separately without them clumping together. Nevertheless, with a final coat of Blinc waterproof on top of the Lavera you get the best of both worlds - separated waterproof lashes, which won't flake.

I definitely prefer to use Lavera or Dr Haushka rouge powders to mineral blusher (even Laura Mercier cream blush) because you have far more control over their application. Mineral blushers tend to 'magnetise' themselves onto the skin. No matter how little product you use or how carefully you try to apply it you can end up with too much product on your face (sometimes even in the wrong place) and looking like a painted doll! Conventional blusher is more forgiving, easy to soften out with finishing powder and, let's face it, subtle is always more sophisticated! Nevertheless, I would use mineral blushers for evening, glamour or fantasy work - the colours and shimmer are beautiful.

The pink lipstick I chose was a perfect complement to the eye makeup. This is an elegant, soft look that would work well for day or evening.

My overall rating for today's makeup is 9/10.
