My interest in Indian head massage came about through the sheer frustration at not being able to obtain any relief from a chronic, almost permanent, headache that I’d developed during an intensely stressful period in my life. The pain in my head went on unrelentingly for more than a year. Neither regular massage nor other relaxation exercises helped at all. In the end I felt compelled to learn what could be done in a positive and productive way to alleviate chronic muscle contraction and neck and shoulder pain – if not for myself, then for others.
I am happy to report that in mine and my client’s’ experience, Indian head massage reaches parts of the body and mind that other massage therapies are unable to reach!
It should be remembered that the jaw, head, neck and shoulders are often the most common areas of the body that are tight and where we habitually store our tension. Indian head massage involves working on these constricted muscles with a firm and gentle rhythm to help unknot blockages and bring relief from built-up tension.
